The latest CFTC Commitments of Traders report (Legacy) for a futures-linked asset: large speculators, commercials and small traders. Positions are as of Tuesday and published Fridays at 15:30 ET.

Parameters#

  • symbolstringpathRequired

    TradeEasy symbol, for example XAUUSD or EURUSD. Aliases resolve to the CFTC contract. Up to 32 characters.

Response fields#

  • report_datestring · YYYY-MM-DD

    The Tuesday the positions are as of.

  • net_speculatorinteger · contracts

    Non-commercial longs minus shorts.

  • net_commercialinteger · contracts

    Commercial longs minus shorts.

  • net_retailinteger · contracts

    Non-reportable (small trader) longs minus shorts.

  • net_speculator_change_1winteger · contracts

    Change in the speculator net from the previous report.

  • flow_kindstring

    What drove the week, for example long_liquidation. flow_label says the same in words.

  • positioning_extremeboolean

    True when positioning is at an extreme of its own history; extreme_type says which.

Open interest, longs and shorts per group, weekly changes, % of open interest, trader counts and concentration (top 4 / top 8).

Errors#

  • 400INVALID_SYMBOL

    The symbol is empty or longer than 32 characters.

  • 401detail

    Missing, invalid or revoked key, or a locked account. FastAPI {"detail": …} body, not the envelope.

  • 403detail

    The plan does not include the REST API, or the subscription is not active.

  • 404NOT_AVAILABLE_FOR_ASSET

    No CFTC report covers the asset (equities, crypto) or the contract is retired.

  • 429RATE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED

    Per-key minute or day bucket spent. Honour Retry-After.

  • 500FETCH_FAILED

    Unexpected read failure. Retry with backoff.
